Northern Pike

Northern Pike

GREAT NORTHERN PIKE -One of our most common game fish, the Pike is taken best by casting. He'll hit your lure with a powerful dash, then make a "run" for the weeds. The Pike will fight frantIcally, but aimlessly.

Pike weighing more than 30 pounds have been landed but generally they run between 3 and 4 pounds.

You'll find Pike in lily pads, reeds and weeds. Its overall colour is greenish, which shades into a lighter colour on the lower sides. The body is profusely covered with light oval, elongated spots which distinguish it from the muskie.

The best Pike fishing is in the fall of the year. And one of the favourite baits for casting is the old red devil spoon.

RECORD 42.12 lbs  - 19.1 kgs
