RAINBOW TROUT -The bold adventurer of the trout family - a fighter with a chip on the shoulder. The Rainbow Trout doesn't just break water, it explodes! It strikes viciously and it doesn't give up as long as a fin functions. This fish likes swift water. It is found in fast currents under overhanging bank or willow clumps, or out in a fast ripple'. He takes both dry and wet flies, and likes streamers, bucktail, spoons, fly-spinner combinations and smaller plugs and mickey finn.
A Good Tip - Cast to the Rises - In lakes he averages 2 to 5 pounds, while in streams he is usually under a pound. The spawning male Rainbow Trout has a vivid red, or reddish - purple broad band which starts behind the eye and extends along the body to the caudal fin. It is also heavily black-spotted. However you'll find most of the Rainbows you catch are bright silver in colour.
