Ontario Fishing Network Writers Guidelines

Who We Are
The Ontario Fishing Network is a very focused online magazine & website. All material is related to fishing, with the articles ranging from basic how-it's-done pieces to carefully crafted fishing stories. The online magazine began in Feb. 2001. Ontario Fishing Network is dedicated to being the Web's core resource for information on sport fishing in Ontario. We are dedicated to providing our readers with practical information on outdoor destinations and activities while highlighting the gear and skills that make exploring our province more enjoyable.

What We're Looking For
The Ontario Fishing Network is always looking for professional writers and photographers. We are especially interested in articles from authors that are available for reprint on our site. We also welcome unsolicited manuscripts. If you have corresponding photos or artwork for which you have the rights, please mention that in the email. All submissions or queries should be sent to webmaster@ontariofishing.net. Format should be ASCII txt or MSword.doc. You can also just cut and paste your piece into the body of the email.

Features We Require
We require short pieces (500 to 650 words) on fishing tactics and techniques, natural history relating to fishing and how to/do-it-yourself projects with a fishing slant. All pieces should relate to the Province of Ontario or fishing for species that occur in Ontario.

Payment & Rights Information
The Ontario Fishing Network buys non-exclusive e-rights to all material, and we need to be able to keep the material up on our sites for as long as we deem necessary. (You are quite free to sell the material elsewhere, however.) Payment is scaled to story length and subject matter. For both original material and reprints, rates normally start at $25 and run to $50 or more for comprehensive or highly specialized pieces.

Deadlines
Deadlines for submission are the 21st of every month.

Photographs
Original 35mm pictures are preferable. They should be clear and sharp. Digital photos are also acceptable. When possible, mail the photos with your completed article. Otherwise, include a list of photo resources. We will return all artwork after the issue has been published.
